Todd's description fit my problem to a T. I removed the discs and the assembly that holds them in. It's not really SuperTrappp's fault that the muffler's coming apart. The heads of the two screws in the bottom (they hold the assembly that holds the discs) are roughed up quite a bit. Turns out that I've been scraping the muffler at the same time I've been scraping the footpegs!
I'm going to call SuperTrapp and get new parts.
